We are seeking a detail-oriented, hands-on Research Assistant to help drive agricultural innovation at our West Salem, Wisconsin Research Station. You will play a crucial role in the execution, maintenance, and data collection of our research trials to ensure high-quality and reliable results. This is a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between hands-on fieldwork and cutting-edge agronomic data collection.

Your Impact (Essential Duties and Responsibilities):

  • Bring Trials to Life: Assist in establishment, maintenance, and harvesting of field and controlled-environment trials, playing a direct role in advanced, multi-species crop evaluation and scoring.
  • Guard the Data: Collect, record, and manage trial data accurately and consistently.
  • Own the Organization: Support plot layout, labeling, and general trial organization.
  • Drive the Process: Prepare trial materials and assist with sample processing, while operating and maintaining research equipment and tools
  • Champion Excellence: Ensure compliance with safety and quality protocols and provide essential logistical support during visits, evaluations, and peak trial periods.

Who You Are (Qualifications):

  • A dedicated, self-motivated professional with excellent communication skills, a team-oriented mindset, and a great work ethic.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and holds a valid driver’s license.
  • Reliable and adaptable, with the ability to work overtime hours as necessary during peak seasons.

Bonus Points (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher with 4+ years of quality work experience.
  • Agricultural or Plant Science experience preferred, alongside previous farm work experience.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions: Physical working conditions include sitting, bending, or standing while performing data analysis or collecting data. Frequent walking and lifting up to 50 pounds. Will include continuous use of hands for repetitive tasks. The position works frequently in the field; therefore, the Research Assistant will be exposed to potentially hazardous conditions: weather, chemical or slippery conditions of work area.
