About the job
The Product Management Trial Manager is responsible for the management of the Philomath, Oregon field trials to support the needs of the Product Management team. This entails field trial and plant nursery establishment and maintenance, including chemical and fertility applications, equipment and facilities maintenance.
The Product Management Trial Manager has a thorough understanding of agriculture concepts and techniques. This role will be responsible for implementing and updating the field management plan. This includes maintenance and reporting of all chemical applications and evaluations.
The Product Management Trial Manager is a motivated, team-oriented, self-starter who identifies goals to be accomplished on both a daily and annual basis.
Through careful inspection, it is expected that this role stays up to date on compliance with all state and federal regulations, compliance standards and company policies and procedures.
This role is both office and field based. We work very collaboratively and it is expected that our team assist each other where needed.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare and execute trials according to agreed upon procedures, protocols and plans.
- Make agronomic related decisions regarding trial activities.
- Perform the timely application of chemicals, fertilizers, treatments and irrigation according to agreed upon procedures and protocols.
- Maintain records of applications, including rate, date, and location.
- Maintain chemical applicators license.
- Use and maintain personal protective equipment as required.
- Establish, make maps, and conduct data collection of field trials according to department standards.
- Ensure and perform timely soil preparation for new trials.
- Assist with seed harvest, seed cleaning, planting, and other field work as needed.
- Manage the maintenance of all equipment.
- Inventory and order supplies as needed for conducting field trial activities.
- Attend company meetings and conduct field tours as requested.
- Manage maintenance of Philomath PM building and collaborate with the commercial teams to organize their use of the building as needed.
- Follow and update field management plan annually.
- Oversee temporary and hourly employees as needed.
- Comply with all state regulations, federal regulations, compliance standards and company policies, procedures and protocols.
- Other duties as assigned by Manager.
Physical working conditions includes sitting, bending or standing while performing tasks. Frequent walking and lifting 50 pounds. Will include continuous use of hands for repetitive tasks. The position works frequently in the field; therefore, the Product Management Trial Manager will be exposed to potentially hazardous conditions: weather, chemical or slippery conditions.
Qualifications:
- Associates Degree or higher in Agriculture/Horticulture, Plant Sciences or related field.
- 5+ years of farm work experience.
- Knowledge of chemicals, fertilizers, mechanics and equipment used on a trial farm.
- Excellent verbal, written, listening and interpersonal communication skills.
- Organizational, prioritization and follow-up skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong critical thinking and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
- 7+ years of farm management experience.
Compensation and Benefits:
