General Description: The Inventory Control Specialist ensures our internal customers receive up-to-date and accurate information regarding seed availability, package sourcing and testing.
Reports to: Inventory & Demand Planning Manager
Job Summary
The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for a wide variety of inventory and quality control activities that include performing daily cycle counts, stock rotation, pallet/bin consolidation, root cause error analysis, ensuring proper tags are on products, and that inventory is in the correct item segment code.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure pallets and bins are properly aligned within Navision.
- Ensure all pallets have appropriate labeling.
- Bin management; including bucket bins to ensure the proper transaction was completed.
- Stock Rotation (FIFO) to ensure oldest lots are positioned in the warehouse properly.
- Perform daily cycle count.
- Assist warehouse staff with inventory related questions.
- Manage damaged inventory to ensure items are properly transferred in and out.
- Ensure receipt, mixer out, mixer in, and put away bins are cleared weekly.
- Assist in warehouse organization.
- Maintain elevated levels of accuracy in inventory integrity.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Conduct inventory aging analysis.
- Ensure all items are in the correct item segment code.
- Other duties as assigned by Manager.
Physical working conditions include standing, sitting, and walking throughout the day, repeated twisting at the torso while lifting and pulling inventory from shelves, and regular lifting of up to 50 pounds.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in warehouse operations or inventory management, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
- Excellent verbal, written, listening and interpersonal communication skills.
- Data analysis and reporting skills.
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking, prioritization and follow-up skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to make calculations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook).
- Ability to perform detailed work with a high degree of accuracy. Ability to work overtime hours as necessary.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, product tags, transfer requests, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manual.
- Forklift (sit-down and stand-up reach fork) driving required.
- Ability to move and/or lift up to 50 pounds.
- Valid certification to operate forklifts.
- Preferred:
- Associates Degree or higher.
- 3+ years of quality work experience.
- Industry experience.
- Familiarity with Microsoft NAV software.
- Experience streamlining processes and eliminating waste to keep costs low while maintaining high quality products and services.
Compensation and Benefits:
This position comes with a competitive compensation plan that includes a starting hourly rate from $21.00/hour to $24.00/hour (based on experience). This position also includes health and wellness benefit options, retirement savings plan with company contribution, vacation, and personal days.
