DLF Canada Inc. - North America SBU would like to strengthen the field work functions in Product Development by hiring a Research Assistant to work at our Port Hope, Ontario research station.

Job summary 

We are looking for a person with the right set of skills who combine dedicated field work, communication and organization. This individual will be comfortable working with all aspects of field research and demonstration trials, operating & maintaining the seeding and harvesting equipment, trial seed preparation, field notes, data entry, etc. 

 

• The position will favour a minimum 1-year post-secondary education or suitable equivalent experience, preferably in Agriculture or related field. 

• The ideal candidate should have familiarity with operating/maintaining machinery. 

• Must have a valid driver’s license and provide a clean driver abstract.

• This position is very physical. Includes walking, heavy lifting, tending to crops/fields bending weeding etc., driving machinery. Must be comfortable loading and towing a trailer with machinery to off-site locations. 

• The successful applicant must be self-motivated, able to work independently and with others. 

• They must be willing to travel periodically and work extended hours when necessary.

 

This is a temporary position running from May- September with potential future career opportunities and the opportunity to extend the contract.
