Job Summary:
The Regional Sales Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing Farm Retail sales operations and business development within an assigned territory. This role is focused on driving revenue growth, managing strategic customer relationships, and ensuring the successful execution of sales strategies aligned with organizational goals. The Territory Sales Manager collaborates with internal stakeholders to deliver high-impact solutions that meet customer needs while ensuring sustainable business growth.
Key responsibilities include developing and executing territory sales plans, monitoring market trends, and identifying growth opportunities. This role plays a critical part in ensuring customer satisfaction, negotiating contracts, and managing key accounts to build long-term partnerships. Additionally, the Territory Sales Manager will analyze sales performance, forecast demand, and contribute to product positioning and market expansion strategies. The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader with a deep understanding of the agriculture seed industry, a strong sales acumen, and a proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Territory Sales Strategy & Execution: Develop and implement territory-specific sales strategies to drive growth and meet sales targets for the agriculture seed portfolio, including grass seed and specialty crops.
- Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with sales agents and growers by understanding their unique needs and providing tailored seed solutions to maximize yield and profitability.
- Market Development & Business Growth: Identify and pursue new business opportunities by analyzing market potential, expanding market presence, and promoting new product lines within the territory.
- Technical Support & Product Expertise: Serve as a trusted advisor by offering agronomic guidance, product recommendations, and technical support to help sales agents and customers optimize seed selection and field performance.
- Sales Forecasting & Reporting: Monitor sales performance, conduct regular territory assessments, and provide accurate sales forecasts and market insights to inform business decisions.
- Field Visits & Demonstration Plots: Organize and participate in field visits, demonstration plots, and customer events to showcase seed performance and drive product adoption.
- Collaborative Partnerships: Work closely with agronomists, marketing teams, and research and development teams to align sales efforts with product innovation and market positioning.
- Compliance & Stewardship: Ensure all sales activities adhere to company policies, industry regulations, and environmental stewardship practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree or higher.
- Knowledge and experience in the seed industry or allied industries.
- 3+ years of similar experience in increasingly responsible roles.
- Excellent verbal, written, listening and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking, prioritization skills and follow-up skills with attention to detail.
- Proven ability to achieve sales quotas.
- Personal, positive, yet competitive personality.
- Self-directed, performance-driven personality, with a team player mentality.
- Willingness to travel as needed (20-30%)
- Comfort with new software and technology.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Preferred:
- 5+ years of quality sales experience
