Senior Planner

Lincoln, Canterbury - On site role
PGG Wrightson Seeds is part of the global DLF Group, servicing both New Zealand and international markets. We work across the entire seed journey—from research and development through to production, processing and on-farm support—supplying high-quality seed to arable growers, livestock producers, and food and feed manufacturers.
If you enjoy making sense of complex information, bringing different teams together, and finding practical solutions when plans inevitably change, this could be the role for you.
PGG Wrightson Seeds is looking for a Senior Planner to join our Oceania Supply Chain team in Lincoln. Reporting to the National Planning Manager, you will own end-to-end supply planning across both domestic and international markets. We need a practical planner who enjoys working with people, asks good questions, and turns data into clear, workable plans.
This is a chance to help shape a Planning function that is still being built. You will design and standardise planning processes, develop our Anaplan models and tools, and represent Planning in cross-functional forums, with real influence on how the team works.
You will work across Sales, Production, Procurement, Customer Service, Finance and Operations to balance demand, supply, inventory, and customer needs. Agriculture has its own rhythm, so you will also need to be comfortable planning around seasonal demand, crop and harvest cycles, processing timeframes, seed quality, and the occasional curveball from the weather.
What you’ll be doing
-
Owning end-to-end supply plans across your area of responsibility, aligned to production and customer demand
-
Driving the supply side of our S&OP and S&OE processes, working with Sales, Production, Procurement, Customer Service and Finance to reach practical, evidence-based decisions
-
Facilitating the monthly consensus forecast and challenging Sales and Commercial inputs before they enter the forecast
-
Managing product allocation across customers and channels when supply is constrained, working with Sales and Commercial to prioritise
-
Monitoring inventory and working with Sales to reduce aged, slow-moving, surplus, or obsolete stock
-
Identifying risks and gaps in supply and demand, and recommending workable solutions
-
Maintaining accurate planning data in Anaplan and Navision, and helping develop our planning models
-
Tracking and reporting forecast accuracy (WMAPE, bias), inventory, and supply performance
-
Supporting seed testing, quality requirements, and product availability reporting
-
Designing, documenting, and standardising planning processes, tools, and reporting
-
Representing Planning in cross-functional forums and keeping stakeholders informed when supply, demand, or priorities change
What we’re looking for
You’ll bring around five years’ experience in supply planning, demand planning, inventory management, or a related role, ideally within agriculture, seed, manufacturing, FMCG, or another seasonal industry.
You’ll have strong technical planning capability, including:
-
Proven experience delivering end-to-end supply planning across a complex product portfolio
-
A strong working knowledge of S&OP and S&OE processes, including demand and supply balancing, scenario planning, and constraint management
-
The ability to interpret forecasts, identify trends and risks, and translate data into practical planning recommendations
-
Strong inventory management capability, including stock optimisation, allocation, ageing, surplus, and obsolescence
-
Experience using planning platforms such as Anaplan, together with ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics NAV/Navision or Business Central
-
Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis and modelling, with Power BI reporting experience highly regarded
-
An understanding of forecast accuracy measures, planning KPIs, master data, and the importance of data quality
-
Sound commercial judgement and the ability to balance customer service, inventory, capacity, cost, and supply risk
Alongside the technical expertise, you’ll be a down-to-earth and collaborative person who enjoys working across teams. You’ll communicate clearly, challenge assumptions constructively, and remain solutions-focused when priorities or conditions change.
Experience in agriculture or seed would be valuable, particularly an understanding of seasonal demand, crop and harvest cycles, processing timeframes, seed quality, and weather-related supply impacts.
Most importantly, you'll be practical, approachable, and comfortable getting into the detail, with the sense of humour to match when the plan doesn't quite go to plan.
If that sounds like you, please hit apply and you will be taken to our parent company careers site. Upload your resume and cover letter. For a position description please email, recruitment@pggwrightsonseeds.co.nz
