Within DLF Genetics, our French subsidiary dedicated to plant breeding, located in Les Alleuds (49320), you will join a team of 10 people and participate in the development of the alfalfa breeding program for the European market. You will also be in charge of supervising a breeding team.


Your missions 

As an Alfalfa Breeder, you will be responsible for: 

Defining and implementing the alfalfa breeding strategy, in close collaboration with the Alfalfa Segment Manager based in Wisconsin (USA); 

Managing the alfalfa breeding program and ensuring its scientific and technical advancement

Analyzing test data and ensuring synthesis with stakeholders; 

Participating in cross-cutting breeding programs conducted at the R&D station, in collaboration with the forage and turf selection teams; 

Supervising and supporting selection assistants and technicians; 

Supervising laboratory disease trials, development trials on the Alleuds site as well as on external sites; 

Welcoming visitors and partners for research or commercial activities; 

Collaborating closely with the various departments of the company (marketing, sales, seed production, etc.); 

Ensuring scientific, technological and competitive monitoring in order to propose new types of innovation. 

The position involves an estimated 4 to 5 trips per year, to France, Europe and occasionally the United States. 

Fluency in English is essential to exchange regularly with the program manager as well as with your colleagues at the various research stations located in Europe, the United States and Oceania. 


Your profile 

With a Bac+5 to Bac+8 level in genetics, plant breeding or an equivalent field, you have significant experience in varietal selection. You are proficient: the conduct of field trials, agronomic observations, the analysis and interpretation of data, the organization and management of a breeding program. 

Thorough, precise, organized and solution oriented, you appreciate teamwork in an international environment while knowing how to also work independently.
