Field Operations Manager

PGG Wrightson Seeds is one of New Zealand’s premier seed businesses, encompassing all aspects of the seeds market, from R&D, seed production and processing, through to supply and on-farm support.

We are looking for an experienced Field Operations Manager to join our Multiplications Team based in Ashburton. This role is a great opportunity for someone with a strong background in agricultural machinery operation and seed production who is looking to take the next step in their career.

About the Role

As Field Operations Manager – Multiplications, you will be responsible for overseeing field operations to ensure high-quality hybrid vegetable seed production. You will work closely with growers, Arable Representatives, and the Kimihia Research Team, playing a key role in precision drilling, inter-row cultivation, spraying, and crop establishment.

This role is hands-on, and you will be operating specialist equipment such as precision drills, inter-row cultivators, and sprayers while also managing key relationships with contractors and growers. There is an opportunity to develop agronomic skills and contribute to the continued success of our multiplication crops.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking someone with:

• 10+ years of experience in agricultural machinery operation (drilling, cultivation, mowing)
• Experience in precision drilling across a range of crops
• Strong mechanical aptitude and in-field problem-solving skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
• A willingness to develop agronomic skills and learn on the job
• Computer literacy and good organisational skills
• A Class 2, 3, 4 (preferably Class 5) truck license for transporting agricultural equipment
• A Certificate/Diploma in Agriculture would be an advantage, but experience and a passion for the industry are most important.
